Also – as I post new content, please know that this is simply an intermission throughout this whole Nordstrom patent infringement dupe debacle. I’ve still not heard back from them and it’s giving they just want me to get tired and go away. BUT NO. I will not stop. Why? Because it’s not just about me. It’s about standing up against these corporations for all my fellow independent designers and small businesses who don’t have the platform that I have to speak up. I will never stop fighting until they apologize and do the right thing.

How do you see your calendar? Here’s how I see mine…

Calendar Synesthesia

Basically, this means that I visualize time as a sequence in space. I don’t see the calendar how it looks on a planner or in my phone. Instead, it’s a track like the pic above. The months move counter-clockwise, with the summer months seeming much faster in my mind and the winter months longer.

Weird right? I’ve always seen the calendar this way! NEVER the boxes like what my Google calendar looks like.

I’ve only ever met one other human who sees their calendar NOT like how it looks on their phone or planner. Apparently calendar synesthesia affects 1% of the population so I’m making this vid to try to find my peeps! Where you at!? Why does this happen!? Was there some unique experience we’ve all had? Is it our personality? Is it our genetics!? And also WHY. Scientists still don’t know so I’m coming direct to the humans.

Here’s the dupe, the “Tutu Skort” by a brand called Gottex.

I mean, they even had ZERO SHAME making the exact same color as my lilac Pirouette that went viral after Taylor Swift wore it. The other two color options are also exact copies of POPFLEX colors. Did they not think anyone would notice? Or do they just know they’re the big fish and bet on me doing nothing about it? Prob the latter.

Nordstrom is worth 4 billion dollars. They have 54,000 employees and 351 stores in the US. But they chose to infringe on my patent instead of oh…idk… WORK WITH ME?!

Fun fact: I was granted the patent for this skort (my very first design patent!) on my birthday last year! The application process takes a lot of time and effort, which is one reason why they are not always an option for small businesses. And as you can see, a patent doesn’t always deter a big corporation from stealing a design.

Sadly, my story is nothing new. Corporate America is full of twisted greed, where big corporations steal an independent designer’s creation and make money off of the product while the original designer goes unpaid. Instead, they pay their lawyers to gaslight and threaten to sue anyone who tries to fight back.

But nah.

That’s not how I do business.

Nordstrom and Gottex Studio are treating me like an annoying little insect they can squash at any moment with their big bully corporate dollars. Well guess what? Corporations are run on money from the consumer – YOUR HARD EARNED DOLLARS. Without your money, they have nothing. I can’t believe they don’t understand that??

WELL LET’S MAKE THEM UNDERSTAND.

I need your help to share this video and EXPOSE Nordstrom and Gottex Studio. It’s time we all stand up to the big corporations that walk all over small businesses like mine. This is happening too often to people who pour their souls into their creations but cannot afford the money, energy, and time it takes to fight back.

I tried to keep this classy and private but unfortunately their behavior left me with no choice but to make this a very public matter.

I was extremely bothered seeing Taylor Swift getting boo’d at the Super Bowl. It just goes to show that no matter what you do or how much GOOD you do, once you get to the top, people will want to tear you down and bask in the glory of your downfall for their own enjoyment. I really hate that about humanity. I hope she’s not too shook up inside.

For so many years I felt so lost, so broken and so angry. It was a decision between my passion or my parents – and I chose my passion. It broke our relationship and to this day, remains the thing I still cry about every time I think about it, talk about it, or write about it. Like literally right now. Ugh.

As I get older, as my parents get older, and as the past becomes more of a scar than a fresh wound, I find myself trying to heal by trying to understand them. They wanted my sister and I to be safe. To be financially secure. To not suffer. To have stability. Things that were robbed from from them. Telling my parents I was going to pursue fashion design was none of those things. But the more they told me NO the more it lit my fire.

I’m extremely grateful to my parents because had they not done what they did, I would not have fought as hard as I did to get where I am today.

I want to thank you for supporting me all of these years, whether it was by doing a Blogilates video on YouTube or by purchasing something from POPFLEX (or recently Blogilates!). Know that you have the power to change the trajectory of someone’s life, as you did mine, by the choices you make. I say this because as a consumer, our loudest “vote” comes in the form of a dollar. Corporations, at the end of the day, make decisions heavily influenced, if not totally influenced, by numbers. Now more than ever, if you have the means to support minority owned brands that make products you love, let your dollar do the speaking. Know that your collective choices are POWERFUL and that THIS is how they listen.

It’s always surreal to see my products on shelves, even four years after my very first equipment launch. But today after laying eyes on my apparel designs in the store, I’m overwhelmed with emotions.

Managing two brands at once while navigating a project of this size with a faster turnaround than I’ve ever experienced was HARD. Like, maybe my hardest year. But seeing it now… seeing my childhood dream right in front of me, along with the surge of love and support from Blogilates community… I’m so grateful. It was totally worth it.

I have a feeling the Ballerina Skort is gonna go quickkk. The layered skirt is ultra-twirlable, the crisscross waistband gives you an hourglass shape with no pinching, and YES the built-in shorts have pockets.

Ok so the Crisscross Slit Skort has a high-rise A-line fit, which looks sooo flattering with the hourglass accentuating waist band. The built-in shorts have pockets because duhhh and the little slit in the front shows a little leg, but not too much. The perfect cutesy amount.

Jumpsuit = Easiest outfit ever

99 percent of the time, I’m running late because I can’t decide on my out. Jumpsuits are totally SAVING ME because it’s just one piece and I’m done!

The Sweetheart Jumpsuit is such a vibe. How adorable is that neckline?! And omg the fabric… it’s sooo soft! When I was in-store I just kept going back and touching it. I mean, we’ve all dreamed of an outfit that feels like pajamas but looks totally put together?

If you’re looking for a jumpsuit to workout in, go for the Peekaboo Flare Jumpsuit! It’s the perfect example of fashion meets function. I’m obsessed with the wide neckline and peekaboo cutout in the front.

And because I am obsessed with one-piece outfits, I had to make a romper too! The Barre Romper is like a romper version of the Ballerina Dress! So cute and feminine… just please don’t ask me how to pee.

Last but not least, some staples

Why are the staples sometimes the hardest to find? For example, there are sports bras everywhere, but it’s so hard to find one that fits just right without looking blah – I know this is especially true if you have bigger boobs. SO, enter the Cardio Queen Bra. This bra is medium-impact and super adjustable to get the right fit. And don’t you love that V neckline and keyhole in the back?

Same with running shorts! I just couldn’t find a pair that I love. Everything gave me diaper butt or looked boring and eventually… I just designed my own. The Ruffle Short has as stretchy, non-pinchy waistband and built in shorts that won’t give you uncomfy cameltoe. No diaper butt in sight – Only a cute ruffle!

OF COURSE there are leggings! Both the Crisscross Legging and Crisscross Flared Legging have an anti-cameltoe front panel, squat-proof fabric, a heart-shaped booty seam, and pockets (the necessities!), plus fun new details! The legging has a cute lil ruched ankle detail and the flares have an ankle slit. Oh and the flare sits below the knee to elongate the leg!

Next, the Travel Trouser! These wide leg pants are comfy cozy, but the pin tuck seams give a slightly more elevated look. These with the Marshmallow Hoodie = The perfect travel fit.

The magic is in the details

Every detail of this collection was so thought out, from the design features to the fabric, to the color options, down to the tags (omg what a learning curve). We had a vision and we showed up to give you our very best.

The team that made this happen is made up of only 7 women, including me! This project was unlike anything else we have done and it truly tested us in every way. We learned a lot, we grew a lot, and we are TIRED, but I am SO SO PROUD OF THEM.

Remember that this is only a limited collection! Once things are gone, they’re gone and… the future depends on how you shop.

P.S. I’ve been reading your comments and messages all day with the biggest smile and happy tears streaming down my face. Thank you for the love and support, and please keep tagging me in the pics of your local Targets! I love seeing how everything looks in different stores!

Yeah, you read that right. We give credit where credit is due, right?

If it weren’t for them stealing my Pirouette Skort design (ahem, twice), I wouldn’t have applied for my very first design patent. I wouldn’t have been granted that patent one year later, ON MY BIRTHDAY. Best gift of my life.

Two years and 499 dupes later

Receiving that patent on my birthday was like a really weird sign that I was on the right path. Since then, we’ve now taken down 393 dupes of the Pirouette Skort alone. INSANE.

Now, design patents are NOT easy to get. They’re incredibly expensive and the application process is extremely time consuming and confusing. It’s very difficult, which is why you don’t hear about many designers going this route.  That said, having a design patent is the most powerful tool I have in my pocket for protecting my rights as an independent designer.

And I’ve simply had enough of dupers. Enough. I’m so happy to share that in 2024, I was also awarded a patent on my Corset Pirouette Dress, the Superbra®, the Sklegging, and the Hiking Superskort.

Since my last bday, we’ve now killed 499 dupes. And we’re just getting started.

Because life gave us luck, I’m not going to let it go to waste. Here are the foundations closest to my hear that I’ve supported so far.

1. California Fire Foundation

I saw a video of a firefighter saving family photo albums from a burning home. This is what being human is about. I cannot thank our firefighters enough for the work and care they have put in, and will continue to put in over the coming days and weeks.

2. World Central Kitchen

I was looking for ways to donate directly to those in need, and my first thought was to donate clothes. But I actually read that for now, they have plenty of donated women’s clothing! So I decided to support organizations doing what they do best. World Central Kitchen is a non-profit kitchen that feeds those facing disaster. I personally met Jose Andres, who runs WCK once! He’s an amazing chef doing amazing things.

3. Pasadena Humane

My heart is hurting for all of the animals fleeing the fires or trying to find their way back to their owners. They’re wandering without food and water, some of them are injured, and they’re literally panicking because they don’t know where to go.
